For the first time in more than 20 years, the legendary t.A.T.u. band is presenting the unreleased album called “V Podnebesnoi” (“In Underheaven). This is a musical artifact of the era, born during the time of the provocative 2004 reality show.
the “t.A.T.u. v Podnebesnoi” project was shown on the STS channel, becoming one of the most discussed televised events of that time. In the format of a reality show, viewers saw how the most daring and popular band in the country records new songs, holds honest discussions and creates music under the direction of the scandalous Ivan Shapovalov.
Dozens of media figures took part in the filming, including producers and musicians, many of whom became symbols of the bygone era. During the show, tracks were created that became part of the legend: “Ya Zdes’”/”Vse Normal’no” (“I’m Here”/”Everything Is Normal”), “Ty Soglasna” (“You Agree”), “Zashishatsa Ochkami”/(“Protected With Glasses”), “Belochka” (“Little Squirrel”), and others. However, the final album never saw the light of day and some of the songs remained in the archives and, alas, did not appear on streaming services.
Now, these compositions are gathered in “V Podnebesnoi” (“In Underheaven), along with rare and previously deleted tracks “Prostiye Dvizheniya” (“Simple Motions”), and “Ludi Invalidi” (“Invalid People”), as well as the iconic song “Ne Ver, Ne Boysia, Ne Prosi” (“Don’t Trust, Don’t Fear, Don’t Ask”), with which t.A.T.u. represented Russia in Eurovision 2003. The album also includes explosive remixes from the hit debut album “200 Po Vstrechnoi” (“200 KM/Hr In The Wrong Lane”).
“This is not just a release – it is a return to the origins which reminds us of the time when the band broke barriers, was provocative, and created music ahead of the time”, says one source. It is worth noting that on a date close to the release of the album, the t.A.T.u. has scheduled the first solo concert after their reunion, which will take place in Moscow. Is this a coincidence or a thoughtful move?
